Preparation for high school students

If you’re a current high school student, we would love to host you for a campus visit, learn about your interests, and share more about how we support Cyclones in their medical and professional school goals.

In the meantime, here are a few tips on what you can do in high school to start your journey.

  • Build a solid understanding of science with high school chemistry and physics classes.
  • Take four years of high school math, with a progression that leads to calculus.
  • Balance your science classes with other interests. If you do not wish to study a world language in college, consider taking three years of the same language in high school.
  • Consider job shadowing a health care provider in your community and start exploring careers. Some health providers have formal programs that are open to high school students, or you may find a connection through a neighbor or family member working in a medical field.
